Lewis Makes Game-Winning Catch
The Minnesota Vikings signed the veteran Brett Favre for one reason: to win the tough games. And on Sunday, Favre's 32-yard touchdown pass to Greg Lewis with two seconds remaining in the game was exactly what we expect from the future Hall of Famer.
In a game in which the 49ers contained Adrian Peterson, lost Frank Gore and unleashed Vernon Davis, it was Favre that wast he difference maker in the Vikings 27-24 victory.
After the 49ers failed to get a first down late in the game, a punt forced the Vikings to drive 80 yards for a touchdown. Favre went 6 of 10 on the 80-yard drive in 87 seconds. On the final play, Favre eluded two near sacks and heaved a laser to Lewis in the back of the end zone. Replay booth showed that Lewis maintained both feet inbounds to secure the victory for the Vikings. That Favre magic is still stealing the show in the NFL. Favre himself could not explain it.
"Anytime you win a game like that, it's pretty special," said Favre."I don't know what to say."
