One Win Down, And Now It's On To San Diego
I think we played one of our best games of the year on Sunday when we beat the Jets. On offense, defense and special teams -- everybody came up big. Our mission defensively was to get quarterback Chad Pennington off the spot, to get some push up the middle and we did that pretty well.
He threw for 300 yards, but I didn't notice that at all during the game. We had a lot of tipped balls, a big interception for a touchdown, and everybody played a pretty good game. We played the Jets a lot better than we did before.
Now we play out at San Diego. The Chargers were the best team in the NFL at 14-2 in the regular season. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson was the MVP in the league and he deserved it. They have a great defense and they pressure you a lot.
But this is a brand-new season. There are probably some people out there saying that we're going to go out there and the Chargers are going to run all over us. It's the playoffs. Don't count us out. It is a new season.
I don't care if they have the rested team and had a bye week last weekend. You go out and play ball. The team that comes ready to play and makes the fewest mistakes wins the game. That is how it works.
I'm feeling good. I had a lot of inside push against New York, some pressures, and I felt that when I was in there I didn't let Pennington step up and throw the ball. When he steps up he can kill you.
Now we have to do the same thing against Phillip Rivers. He's a young guy, but he is very talented. They offense revolves around L.T., but they have a good line and a lot of weapons.
It's going to be a challenge. We like that kind of challenge. We are the underdog, which is fine. You either win or you go home. We have been paying attention to details and to taking care of the little things. Mentally and physically, you have to make sure you do the right things and finish every play.
