Big, Crazy Win Vs. Chicago And Crunch Time Is Here!
That win over Chicago was kind of a strange game. We had a lot of turnovers by both teams, kind of like the game against the Colts. The difference on Sunday was that we found a way to win and keep our momentum going. We know the feeling we have now. We've had it before. Guys are coming together and the only thing that matters is winning games.
We've had a few injuries to overcome here. Losing Junior Seau hurts us. We all like him and respect him. He gave a great, emotional speech before Sunday's game and I think guys took it to heart, so seeing him go down is tough. But we've been in this situation before, where we've lost players. It just means we all have to come together a little bit more, that's all. Everybody has to pick it up even more.
We're a team that helps each other out. We work together. Everybody does his job and looks to help the next person. That is what we'll concentrate on. Emotionally, Junior brings a lot to our team. But we have a lot of leaders here. We've won three Super Bowls here. What we stress is the importance of team play. Teams wins in the NFL, not individuals.
I'm not a starting player, so when I'm on the field I need to produce and get my sacks and pressures. I need to get back on the pace I was on early in the season, so that is something I'm looking forward to doing here in these last five games.
We played with a new turf on Sunday and I think it's just beautiful. It was soft, good grip and it was awesome. We were a little bit worried that it might be a hard surface, like they have in New York at the Meadowlands, but it was perfect. I like walking away from the field clean, too.
The next game, with Detroit, is our biggest game. That is just how we look at things. But we know how to win at this time of the year. You can feel it in the locker room. We're ready to keep this going, keep winning and get into the playoffs.
