Finished his senior season at Louisville with 76 tackles, seven sacks and three blocked field goals and was an All-South Independent selection ... One of the NFL's most active players in terms of community involvement and has been a nominee for NFL Man of the Year numerous times as well as a nominee for the NFLPA's Byron "Whizzer" White Award for community service ... As a member of the Bills, was particularly involved in Buffalo's Multiple Sclerosis Society through which he participated in a fundraising campaign called "Ted Tackles MS" ... Started the "Ted Washington Foundation" in 1998 to benefit a number of youth charities ... Also donated 30 tickets per game to local students involved with the Junior Achievement program as part of a program called "Washington's Generals" ... Family appeared in the Bills' 1998 United Way television spot ... Participated in football, baseball, track and wrestling at Tampa (FL) Tech High ... Father (Ted) played LB for the Oilers (1973-82) ... majored in physical education ... Married (Verlisa), daughters (Ashley, Allison, Adrianne) ... Son (Teddy, Thadeous).
